How the recover deleted file program works, and can I clear the file te program found(maybe it takes space)?

Can you suggest a program that can do this?

  1. To recover deleted files go to the recovery section and put in to restore to previous date.
  2. Sheenamarie10 is right for recovering a program sometimes. It does not work for all deletions. Some programs when deleted still have the files required still on your hard drive. Go to you C drive and look under programs directory to see if works is still there. If the install feature is there you MAY be able to reinstall the program by clicking on it. As for deleting files because they take up space before you do this make sure you do not need the file for a program to function properly. Also when you delete a program it is still on your hard drive taking up the same amount of space. The difference is that when deleted your hard drive will see it as space it can write to when new things are stored on your drive.
  3. Usually, when a file is deleted, the header block for the file is just marked as available and therefore the space that the file used is returned to the free pool. The recovery programs search for these header blocks and and attempt to re-associate the data portion of the file back with the header block before they are overwritten. Yes, you can clear the file the program found if you wish. Good Luck
  4. If you are not running a pre-packaged program such as Norton, when you delete a file, your computer simply erases the file name and location information. The file itself is still on the hard drive until such time in the future as it gets written over by new information in a new file. Depending upon how big your hard drive is and how many new things you add each day, the old file may be there for a long long time or it may get erased the next day. If you run a defrag program, the old files will most likely get destroyed. If you are running Norton, it simply moves everything into a protected garbage can. It will keep things in the can for as long as it can until finally it will have to start writing over old files. The difference is the program will erase over the oldest file first so something you erased last year goes first, but something you erased last week will still be recoverable. You can also set the size of the "garbage can" if you are concerned about disk space but usually it causes no problem.
  5. In laymans terms a deleted file is just hidden from the operating system and the space it occupies can be used for new files. Recovery software is able to see these files because they still exist unless they have been overwritten with another file. However, the space is not free for the operating system to use until the file is removed from the recycle bin. WDW
