What's the best data recovery program?

I had to delete my hard drive because of a virus. My husband deleted it without thinking about the pictures that I had on the computer, he thought the only thing I didn't have saved was my i-tunes. I had all of our daughters pictures from my camera for about the last 4 years on the computer. I never got around to putting everthing on discs, so they're all gone. I also lost my i-tunes library and would like to get that back, but it's not as important as the pictures. Any recommendations on what program would be the best to use?

1. there is a small free software called Recuva, which works well for recovering deleted files. If you search using its name, you can find their website
