How can I recover a deleted file that I didn't access but knowingly deleted?
So I use this program called AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) and I have this add-on to it that logs my AIM IM's. Two days ago, I deleted the files because all my logs go into a folder on my computer and I realize that I need to get those files back because it contains directions that I need. I never opened the file that I needed before I deleted it and I've tried a few recovery programs, but I really don't know what to do. I need to be able to get that file/folder back and it's already emptied from my recycling bin. Can someone help me and get back to me ASAP. Thanks.

- There are some data recovery programs you could try but it sounds like you've already went that route. The thing about them is that they are usually most effective if you have them installed before the data is deleted because they create an index of file. If you try installing them after the fact then they may not work at all because the file is not in their index. If they do scan the drive for lost data they may find some files but the problem is that the deleted data may have been overwritten when you installed the data recovery program or by other changes to the drive.
