How to recover deleted file?

I wrote an article for the paper I work for. Because I commute between my computer there and my home computer I keep my articles updated through email. I opened the article on my home computer and wrote it. However when I went to get it, it was gone. Apparently I saved it to the temporary file. Please tell me there's a way to fix this!!!

3. Well first you have to do is stop manipulating files in the partition where the deleted file was. that means do not copy any new files to the partition.
