How to recover deleted files in Windows XP after 'Defragmentation'?
I accidently (shift) deleted some important file from my D drive. Also I did defragmentation on this directory. Now I want to recover all those files. Is there any way to do so? I tried some 'undelete' software, but no use. :-( Please help me.

- accidental shift delete can be recover with software, most of the file already named by 'cluster' and the extention is still the same with the file that u delete. some software can be found on -----www.softpedia.com---- but if it is accidental 'CUT', then it'scan't be recover (based on my experience)
- I am afraid these file are gone. Defragmentation moves the files around and as a result the space occupied by deleted files get overwritten by existing files. Sorry.
- Try Pandora recovery software, works well for me, but remember it resurrects even deleted viruses. You can download it for free at http://www.download.com/Pandora-Recovery/3000-2094_4-10694796.html?tag=lst-1&cdlPid=10841895. Do let me know weather it worked.
- Restore your system.
- Salman A is right. You defragmented it and its your fault. If there were enought free space on your defragmented patition there is at least some hope (like 95% free space). If you can't get it from an undelete software, its gone.
- Just REPAIR XP using your XP CD. This is the best way to recover the OS.
