can i use my windows xp backup software from one laptop to roll back another laptop that has vista?

my brother bought his laptop with vista, but he wants to change it to xp.

1. You certainly can not do that because the setup disk will check whether you are using the correct model number or not. Either you can buy a new Windows XP or you can download it (but it's illegal)...
