A program for Data Recovery? That i can burn as an ISO image and boot?

I need a Data Recovery program that is free that i can burn an ISO image and boot from the CD drive to detect a problem with my HD. My computer wont boot with the HD connected. Thanks!!

3. A Live-CD of any Linux Distro will do the job you're after as long as the Hard drive is recognized by the computer.
