What ipod Touch data recovery program can I download that actually works and does not say can not find ipod?

I have downloaded 3 programs that all say the same thing. That my IPod is not connected. I have plugged my IPod in and out 100 times and still the same thing. The other thing the program says is if the IPod is plugged in, it could be ITunes blocking it. They carry on saying I must uninstall ITunes. So I did and lost all my songs! The problem is that it still does not work. WHAT CAN I DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Maybe it really isn't connected. When I first got one, I found that I couldn't connect it (either with or without a dock) through a USB hub or with an extension USB cable - only the original cable connected directly to a USB port on the computer was good enough (and I suspect that if you can't use a hub - at least a non-powered one - then you also can't put other power consuming devices on the same USB bus - neighbouring sockets usually). Are you able to try it on another computer? You can reset the ipod on another computer (requires itunes and broadband) - if you hold the Close button and power on while connected it will put the ipod into recovery mode and the computer it's never seen before will then try to download and install the ipod firmware from scratch. Then back on your original computer, it would have restored your backup and re-synced, but unfortunately you may have lots this info by uninstalling itunes, so you may have to reset things like mail settings manually. You may also have to reimport your music into itunes, but hopefully uninstalling didn't remove the music files altogether.
